Emma is one of the best tanks in Marvel Rivals, and she is a meta pick in almost any team. She can do ranged damage, has a shield, very strong melee attacks, and can shut down dives with her melee and a high-impact ultimate that can win a round.
Emma is great, but having to face a sweaty Emma on the enemy team can be hard. Your tanks can't get too close to her, and it’s hard to kill her without first dealing with the enemy healers.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to counter Emma like a pro!
General Tips to Counter Emma

- Emma has a limited range; most of the time, she will be forced to shoot your tanks and try her best to go for your squishies.
- Take ranged DPS characters like Bucky or Hela that can do huge burst damage from range with critical hits or skills.
- Time your burst correctly when she is low, and the enemy healers are down or distracted.
- Killing the enemy tanks by just throwing damage in their face won’t work; they are made to take damage.
- To efficiently shut down the enemy tanks, go for the enemy healers. Take a dive character like Psylocke or Magik and take out the enemy healers, or just keep them distracted enough so that Emma does not get enough heals.

How to Counter Emma as a DPS
Running a tank killer like Wolverine or Iron Fist, and then a backline attacker, is the best DPS lineup to counter Emma.
- Make sure Emma’s Diamond Form is on cooldown before you dive in as Wolverine.
- Time that window with your backline attacker so that Emma won’t get heals when you are committing for damage.
- If you can’t play these characters, other DPS picks also work:
- The Punisher: His long-range burst and turret control chew through Emma’s shields and Diamond Form. Great for constant pressure.
- Hela: Fast attacks plus Astral Flock let her reposition easily, avoiding Emma’s danger zones while still landing heavy damage.
- Hawkeye: Deadly from distance. His ultimate can outright delete Emma if timed correctly.
How to Counter Emma as a Tank
- Take Doctor Strange. It should be common knowledge that he is a must when the enemy team has an Emma.
- Doctor Strange can easily block Emma’s ultimate skill and can output enough damage to keep her pressured on the front line.
- Thor and Thing also work well:
- Thor is a DPS tank, and he can out-DPS Emma in a straight 1v1.
- Thing is immune to Emma’s melee grab and kick attacks.

How to Counter Emma as a Healer
When facing Emma Frost as a healer, survival and positioning are everything.
- Her Psionic Seduction punishes poor awareness, so keep max distance and break line of sight whenever possible.
- Prioritize cleanse or healers with movement skills.
- Heroes like Cloak & Dagger or Luna Snow can make allies immune to Emma’s ultimate skill while still sustaining the team.
- Don’t just heal your team like a bot, play actively, use your crowd-control skills when needed, and don’t forget to heal your DPS, too.
